When Shanira first walked into our studio with her mom, she wasn't necessarily looking to design a dress from scratch. Like most brides, she started by exploring what was already on the racks, looking for that "initial spark."

During that first appointment, Shanira tried on a few of our available silhouettes. There is a specific moment in every fitting where the room goes quiet, the moment the bride sees herself for the first time. For Shanira, it was an emotional one. Her mom actually burst into tears, telling her she looked "exactly like a princess." It was the perfect start, but as we talked more about the wedding she envisioned, Shanira realized she wanted something that felt a bit more her.

Moving Beyond the Rack

After that first day, we decided to explore our customization options. This is where the process shifts from a transaction into a collaboration.

We spent the next one month in a deep dive of discussions. We talked about her personal style, the architecture of the gown, and how she wanted to feel when she moved. One month after her first visit, I sent over the initial hand-drawn sketch.

Designing a custom gown isn't a one-way street; it's a dialogue. We went back and forth on the sketch, refining the lines and the details until every part of the drawing felt right. Only when Shanira was 100% confident did we move the design into the atelier for production.

Four Months of Craftsmanship

While our team spent the next four months bringing the sketch to life, we stayed in close contact. We know that waiting for a custom piece is a high-involvement emotional journey, so we make sure the bride feels part of the progress.

When Shanira came back for her reveal fitting one month later, the transformation was incredible. Seeing a pencil drawing turn into a structured, physical gown is a "meaning-making" moment that you just can't get off a rack.

The Finishing Touches
